Koorie Studies

For Nancy and Jamie

At Nowa Nowa all of the kids have two-koori education. They do koori studies with us they do it with the big kids and the little kids too.  We like it so much, we like drawing and learning about things that we don’t know. When we need help they will help us, they are so cool Nancy reads a story   to us then we draw it and whatever Nancy says is what we have to do. So we do it cause we love Nancy that much and she loves us all. We are doing reconciliation and we have koori words. We know koori animal names.

From Jessica & Janelle

Our school has koori studies on Wednesdays. Throughout the years most of us have learnt some of the names of our local animals in the Gunai language (See “NOWA NOWA IS WHERE WE LIVE” in the poems section to learn more). we draw a lot of pictures using patterns. we've used wood burning to make little boomerangs,    BY LAHNA AND DYLAN
